Powder Coating

What is powder coating ?

Powder coating is a dry paint process made up of finely ground pigment and resin which is electrostatically sprayed onto the part to be coated.

The part is then cured in a 400 degree oven where the powder mixture melts and fuses together to form a highly durable protective finish.

Powder coated surfaces are more resistant to chips, scratches, wearing, and fading than most other finishes.

What colors do you offer ?

Actual color selection is nearly unlimited along with choices of low, medium or high gloss, metallic and clear finishes. Textures of paint range from smooth and glossy to rough and wrinkled for hiding many surface imperfections.

We have many colors and textures in stock or we can special order powder if your print has a specific call out.

What size and quantity can you do ?

If it fits in our 8 x 8 x 16 booth we can do it.

We are ready and able to handle both large industrial production quantities along with small individual parts for the public including car parts.

What about pretreatment ?

A wide variety of pretreatment and cleaning is available along with sandblasting and vibratory degreasing we have an in-house phosphatizing steam washing system.

What is your turn around time ?

For commercial jobs this can largely depend on the size and quantity of your parts but most jobs can be turned around in 5 days.

Residential items can take between 2-3 weeks to be both sandblasted and powder coated. Please plan ahead.

Important information on getting your items powder coated

Almost all items will need to be prepared for powder. This is most often done by sandblasting and will be included in the price quoted to you.

Items must be able to withstand the 400 degree curing temperature. Be sure that there are no plastic or other pieces that can be ruined. We do have a vast knowledge of many car/ bike parts but by no means do we know every make, model and type of part and what all of their internal components might be. We cannot be responsible for any parts damaged due to hidden "melty" pieces.

On the same note, items have many areas that should not be painted such as pems, threaded holes, bearings, seals etc. Please know before hand, preferably by marking them, which areas need to be masked to keep them paint free. We cannot be responsible for parts painted because we were not aware of the "danger" areas

Parts cannot contain any Bondo or filler as it will not withstand the curing temperature.

Most items must come disassembled. We do not always have the correct auto shop tools to remove things such as bearings, seals or bushings. This especially applies to snowplows and trailers. Also, many vintage items like bouncy chairs or patio furniture are very rusted and we can't be held responsible for anything broken while we are taking it apart.

Please be aware that while powder coating is extremely durable it is not indestructible and we are not responsible for dings, nicks or scratches due to installation and/or abusive wear and tear during usage once parts have been installed.

We cannot be responsible for burnt or flaking powder coating on installed parts that temperatures exceed the maximum powder coating temperature limit. This is 300 degrees for normal powder and 1000 degrees for high temp.

Cast aluminum and magnesium parts may sometimes experience an out-gassing which causes a bubbling in the finished powder coat. While we take every precaution to avoid out-gassing we can't be held responsible for bubbling caused by poor or porous castings.

We cannot be responsible for any powder issues not pertaining to workmanship. This includes but is not limited to poor quality of the original material (excessive weld or splatter, grind marks, dings or dents, road rash etc.) This also applies to dissatisfaction with your color or finish choice.

Minimum set up charges apply for color changes. Group all of your same color items together for the best pricing
